Be Good to Your BODY, Mind and Spirit

Yep, you read it correctly the title is ‘be good to your body, mind and spirit’. Three components that keep us balanced and feeling great but for the purpose of this post I’m going to focus on the ‘body’. From the age of 11-13 I was a little on the chubby side.  No I was not obese or hugely over weight but I was indeed a chubby child. I was not the sporty active kid, oh no that was my big sister. After school when she was going to basketball, netball and hockey practice I was rushing home to snack on crisps and look forward to dinner.

As I got older, you could say I grew out of it and yes, I was quite slim but I never seemed to have the body I wanted until I was 23 and I started to work out. One of my sisters friend from secondary school started a boot camp and I decided It was time to get fit. I think honesty is best so I must say I had no idea what I was getting myself into. This class was hard and I mean ridiculously hard. I remember after the first month of classes I would come home and be in agony the next day due to the pain in my muscles. My mum was a little worried but of course, like anything consistency is key and when you do something continuously our bodies adapts to the change. After about 2 months of doing this work out my body was ripped, toned and tight. I used to look in the mirror and think ‘wow who is that’.

Trust me body image is something I have struggled with for years but I have to say my confidence began to soar. I began to dress differently, walk differently and I felt amazing. Not just because I had the body I desired, but because I had set a goal and actually achieved it. I don’t know if it’s true for everyone but when I’m eating well and working out I feel, amazing and to be honest quite unstoppable! How are you treating your body?

Look after it and it will look after you.

Big love
